![]() I know it's a strange problem, all I can think of to do next is trying the CDs on another computer (which I'm sure will work fine) or wipe my HD and reinstall Windows etc. Also checked c:/Users/Username/etc., no DOSBox files remaining Yes I know about that, after uninstalling I searched my computer for DOSBox config. If I remember correctly I couldn't get it to work in Vista so I always copied the contents of SQ1EGA to my HD and ran it through DOSBox (always worked fine). Also SQ2 from this CD has the exact same problem. It's European (includes French and German versions of SQ5 and bought it in Belgium). It's the 1997 collection series which includes SQ1 through 6 (2 CDs). Malwarebytes doesn't find any problem with it and it's the right size, 69,120 bytes.Īlso found this about conime in relation to DOSBox: Second: After reinstalling I noticed my mount lines in the config file were still there! Whatever I do (uninstalling, manually deleting all related files, restarting pc, even checking the registry) these lines keep appearing whenever I reinstallĪlready checked up on conime.exe. I uninstalled and reinstalled DOSBox, to no avail.įirst: I couldn't delete the DOSBox folder after uninstall, so I ran unlocker which said conime.exe was blocking it The version of sq1 I'm using is the one from the SQ collection CD, just copied the SQ1 files from the CD into a folder on my HD (this used to work just fine) ![]() Now there's away around this: I can just save in the first slot and overwrite every time or if I really want multiple save games I can put the save games in a different folder every time, but I'd like to solve this because I don't know how this problem affects other in game things. I can still save but only in the first slot. Overall, my experience with what I call "retro gaming" has been worth the effort.I decided to start up sq1 a few days ago, played some and then tried to save (you know, hit F5 etc.) but instead of getting the screen where you can choose what slot to save in, it immediately picks the first slot. In using the original disks, you do have to be carefully due to their age. Of course, everything works fine with the actual game running on my Apple IIe. My only workaround is having to play the entire game in one setting if using the emulator. ![]() Using the virtual Apple IIe is part of the problem I'm sure because there are no (physical)formatted disks to insert when asked during the save routine.Īfter spending some time researching this problem, I just learned to live with the limitation.naturally, it cuts into the fun factor. From my communications on several Apple II sites, the most likely cause is that it has something to do with formatting and saving to a separate specially SSI formatted disk. I searched out the Web for help but was unable to find a solution to the problem. The AppleWin emulator works fine on my PC as does the game but I was unable to figure out how to save the game. Apple II fans will have countless hours of fun with these classic apps. We tried to give a count of how many apps were included and gave up at over 5,000. In contrast to the slow original speed, the AppleWin emulator allows you to adjust the emulator processor speed. Apple II Disk Image Collection includes many Apple II utilities including programming, sound, productivity, graphics, games, education, communications, and more. Hint: To add multiple games in one go, press and hold the shift key, then click Add game - the label will change to Mass Add and if you press it, you are again asked to select a directory, only this time ScummVM will search through all subdirectories for supported. ![]() After successfully bidding on it, I ended up buying an Apple IIe on ebay and started playing.much fun was had, although the game is noticably slower given that it is running in a very slow processor (1 MHz IIRC). To play a game next time, skip to step 5, unless you want to add more games. Then, several months ago, I found an original boxed Apple IIe copy for sale on eBay. I started playing the game in an Apple IIe emulator for my PC. That led me to discover a number of Guadalcanal games that ran fine in the emulator. I discovered GG's Guadalcanal Campaign after a friend of mind introduced me to the world of Apple IIe emulators and playable games. Yes, I have played GG's Guadalcanal Campaign from time to time.Īs a fan of anything having to do with Guadalancal, I've spent alot of time and energy looking for Guadalcanal related games and sites. ![]()
